Welcome, year 2009!
How was ur new year's celebration last nite?
Mine was pretty uneventful, but pleasant. I did the countdown at my friend's house, Angga a.k.a Ancuk [Angga Jancuk, hehehhee, pis ngga :P]. Then we watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2, where halfway during the beginning of the film, i fell asleep.
My 1st January 2009 started with a pile of daily chores and still, a sore red, lobster-ish face. After i had lunch, did the dishes and my ironing, i figured that my life in year 2009 shud be more meaningful, so i did sumthin completely random.
While i still havn't figured out what my new year's resolutions will be, i do kno a small part of it will be increasing my contribution in saving the planet.
Incidently, the first movie i saw in 2009 - besides Pirates of the Carribean, but dat doesnt count since i slept thru it - was The Day After Tomorrow.
So, that movie further inspired me to add another link on my blog, which is from the rainforestsite.com. One click a day can be a help in the protection of rainforests everywhere, and the best part about it is.. its completely FREE! All we do is click, and someone else spends their money, hehehe.
I come from Indonesia where rainforests are pretty important. My father is from Pontianak - no, not the scary Malaysian baby-eating poltergiest - which is in Borneo, an island that is vastly covered in rainforests so thick that u can hardly see the sky above you. My father influenced me to love nature, and i do.
When i was young, i flew to Borneo to visit my Grandma, and i loved to see from the airplane window how green that island was. But my latest visit to Borneo in 2007, i saw that it wasn't as green as it used to be.
Lots of forests were burnt down to make room for farming, or grazing, or harvesting wood to be illegally sold. It was very sad to watch brown patches in a beautiful carpet of green.
So help me guys, click that tiny button dat says "click everyday" and maybe somewhere around the world, we help to conserve another rainforest and all those wonderful creatures that call it their home.
Will it make a difference? I don't kno. All we can do is try - it's still better than doing nothing.
